A/W in Dunhill

Dunhill flannel checked shirt and light brown cotton chinos | Montblanc leather reversible belt | John & Paul dark brown derby shoes | Tom Ford optical glasses

I feel that there wasn´t a simple outfit for a long time.

And here I wanted to show you and inspire you with two thoughts – get some flannel shirts for the winter season and do not give up on chinos. The casual way in Autumn is best enjoyed in those two pieces of garments.

This is merely an introduction to this outfit from Dunhill. As this is a high-end British fashion brand (but with some history in tailoring as well), I prepare a comparison between these higher-priced chinos and chinos in what I consider as normal price. Therefore it is not the last time you hear about pieces from this outfit.

I only mention that a checked shirt caught my attention as I have very few checked shirts, mostly plain. Its mother of pearl buttons and details such as the “AD” monogram of the brand under sideseam and luxe finish proves that even a flannel shirt that is good to wear on weekends and bonfires or cabins can be a piece of work as well.

And I´m grateful because this is perhaps the first shirt I wear over a t-shirt – more about this in the upcoming post, how to approach this, so it doesn´t look gimmick.

The only purpose of this post is to show you that leaving out a t-shirt and hoodie when going to the pub or just in the city doesn´t have to be a step out of your comfort zone. It looks tidy, informal and if properly cut, it sits perfectly. I´d say that the better fit is easier to achieve with thicker materials instead of the Piumino* collection from Albini, which wrinkles just by looking at it. There must be more work to be put into the garment.

This shirt by Dunhill really pleased me, and after a long time, it was a good experience with the RTW shirt. However, you don´t have to stick with Dunhill at all costs – on a lower price level, nice flannel shirts are done, for example, by Portuguese flannel.

Yours Sincerely,

Denis

*Piumino is a collection of fabrics by Albini, Piumino belongs to one of the finest fabrics, but I find it a little bit annoying as it does wrinkles extremely and it’s very light - I prefer heavier or slightly heavier fabrics.
